Knitting projects, books, and dentists

Hello Again,
It is raining today, although we've enjoyed sun and warm weather this past week. Loved it! Can't wait til it stays warm.
Anyways getting to...

What is on my needles and wheel :

     Still working the mouse doll.
I've completed a few inches on it.

I've added a few squares to my memory blanket.

The afghan is still in hybernation. Due to the fact that the yarn and needles are super heavy and cause my fingers to cramp after a few rows.

If you have suggests for that please feel free to leave comments below.
I've heard of using the gloves that are suppose to massage your hands as you knit. Do those work? Let me know what u think.

The spinning spring project, I've not really worked on it any these past weeks.

Going to cast on the second sock for my Easter Candy socks for Geeky Girls Knit Sheepy Spring Kal.

FO (finished objects )

I'm counting this as a finished object because my others are super long and they won't be finished for a while so I got to take it where I can get it. Lol

I finished one of the Lego My Eggo Socks in the sweet stripes colorway.  I'm referring to them as my Easter Candy Socks.

TV SHOWS, MOVIES, AND BOOKS
[Warning: spoilers are contained below]

I've finished reading the first Outlander book.  I really liked it. Some parts I didn't care for but you could definitely hate the character that was doing them. I can't wait to read the next one.

I'm still reading the Smart Women Keep it Simple by Annie Chapman for my ladies circle at church. We have finished the first chapter and we could all relate to it. The next chapter is called Evaluating your Marriage; in which I will be going over that at our next meeting. So wish me luck. Can't wait til our next meeting.

I've been watching Season 3 of Heart of Dixie. I've watched episode 15, when the Truitt brothers sue Zoe and Joel for Chicken falling while doing repairs on their new home. Like we didn't see that coming. As usual Golden Boy George comes to the rescue. Honestly I liked Wade better.
OH and Lemon in jail and the two boyfriends at once was crazy!
For Lemon, I kinda liked Meatball. Lol

Season 1 episode 8 of Beauty and the Beast. I love this show. This is the one where Cat finds out that the stories about her mother helping to create what Vincent has become and that there is a way to keep his fugue stages from happening.  They also find out that Cat's mother was trying to reverse the process and help them but the Government just wanted to put them down.

Season 5 episode 4 Midsomer Murders.  They are investigating the murder of a woman who was in charge of a book club that was actually a cover up for a stock market club for the women to be able to earn some money to call theirs.

This weekend my husband is off work so I'll be watching The Brothers Grime.  Can't wait, it looks really good.

LIFE AS I KNOW IT

Well, I'll be getting my wisdom teeth cut out soon (all four) Ugh. So not really looking forward to that but at least my head aches will stop.

Here is a picture of a turtle I helped across the road last week.

Below are pictures of my youngest DD, Roo, who is now 3. She is getting too big.

The picture below is her the day after she was born.

The last picture is one of my DD, Roo, and my DD, Moo. (Both are nicknames. Lol)
They are really close, darn near inseparable.

♡ I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and weekend. As always Happy Knitting and Spinning!  ♡

Rainy Day Post

Hello Everyone,
I hope you are dry and warm where you are. It has rained pretty much all day here.
Today we ran some errands and I've worked on my knitting projects.

FO (finished objects)

I do have two finished objects, yay, I've finished both pairs of Lego My Eggo socks.
One pair was sold yesterday, woo hoo!
The second pair will be posted in my shop later this week. It will fit a woman's size 7 foot.

What's on my Needles and Wheel

I'm still working on the mouse dolly. I've not made much progress on it because I've started a few new projects.

Blanket is still hibernating.

I've cast on the memory blanket by Georgie Hallam. It is going really well. It is very potatoes chippy and addictive. Lol.
Not sure if I will make a whole blanket out of it yet cause I thought of making a purse.

I've also joined the Geeky Girls Knit Sheepy Spring Kal on Ravelry. This will be my first knit along so I'm really excited about it. My first project is by C.C. Almond called Vanilla Cappuccino Socks. They are toe up socks, another first for me. They are knitted with Patons Kroy Socks Stripes in the sweet stripes color way. They're lovely Easter egg colors. Peppermint, my dog, is sleeping on my lap while I knit. Lol

Watching and Reading

I'm about 18% finished with Outlander book 1.

I've finished the first chapter of Smart Women Keep it Simple.

I've enjoyed podcasts from Yarngasm. Enjoy watching to see what new projects she is knitting and spinning. She makes to most beautiful yarn. She inspired me to start the memory blanket.

Geeky Girls Knit is another podcast I've enjoyed lately. I love the fact that it is a mother daughter podcast. They actually inspired the toe up socks and Outlander book readings.

The Knitting Den is a lovely podcast; I love the way she does the outdoor walks to give you a tour of the Colorado view she has plus her little dogs are too cute.

Well as always happy knitting and spinning. Have a blessed day!

Cold Day in the South

Hello everyone,
Hope you all have been staying warm during this super cold snap.  This morning at about 7am or so it was about 8 degrees.
We salted the porch and walk way last night cause it was a solid sheet of ice. Thankfully the rock salt used worked it's magic and the ice had mostly melted by this morning in time to feed the chickens.
What is on my needles and wheel:

Well I'm still working on my Lego My Eggo Socks.  I'm about 5 inches from being finished with them.

I have a seed stitch cowl that I've been working on. I made some progress on it yesterday.

The blanket I was working on its currently in hibernation mode.

I have made some progress on the mouse dolly.  I still lack inside of ears, tail, one leg, button eyes and nose to put on.

As far as my spinning spring, I'm about 1/4 of the way finished with the singles.

Future projects:

I so want to knit these next projects from Love of Knitting summer 2014 magazine and from Creative Knitting Summer 2013.

Whispers of Romance sweater with 3/4 length sleeves.  I love the edges.  It uses sport weight yarn wool/silk/soy blend on size 3 US needles.

I've recently learned how to knit with beads and I've fallen in love with that so here some that involve beading.

The first beaded project I'm thinking about is a shawlette called Crystal Cathedral. I love the lace work on this one. It uses merino (80%) / nylon (20%) blend sock weight yarn, US size 6  32" circular needles, and size 6/0 glass beads.

The other beaded project is another shawlette called Monet's Garden.  I love the lace and colors work on this one.  It uses one verigated and one solid sock weight yarn, 6/0 beads, and US size 6 32" circular needles.

The Goldenrod Tank is a lace tank top that I would love to knit. It uses some delicious merino, cashmere, and nylon blend fingering weight yarn.  US size 6 24" circular needles.

I have more projects I would love to share with you guys but I'll save those for next time.
My shop The Shepherd Knits was visited 83 times and favorited 7 times this month so far.  If you haven't had a chance to visit click the link above and check it out.
As always Happy Knitting and Spinning!  Have a blessed day!

Shop Update #2

Hello Everyone,
Just dropping in to tell you about the new items in my shop.
The Shepherd Knits

I had a wonderful photo shoot staring my beautiful and very photogenic sister-in-law.
She did a wonderful job posing.
I added a crocheted keyhole scarf in fall colors and copper sparkles with a flower accent.  The keyhole feature is behind the flower.

I posted a knitted ruffled scarf.  That is dark purple and light purple with silver sparkles.  It is a fun little number that would love good on an adult or child. My girls loved it.  It allows you to add a pop of color to any outfit.

Last but not least a knitted ear warmer head band in hot pink, light pink and white with silver sparkles.   This one is perfect for showing off you beautiful  do while keeping your ears toasty at the same time.
The items are pictured below.

Shop Update

Hello Everyone,

Just dropping in to tell you about some new items I'm posting in my shop The Shepherd Knits.

First up, I have multicolored striped shawl with black lace edging.  Prefect for chilly nights out. It is made of wool that is next to skin soft. Super cozy, I loved knitting and almost don't want to sell it.

Second item is a dark, grass green and mint green fair isle knitted slouchy hat.  It would be perfect for a cool spring day.  It is made of cotton yarn.  It has beautiful fair isle stitching.
That is all I have for now should have more posts soon, thanks for stopping in. As always I hope you enjoy wearing this as much as I've enjoyed making it.  Have a blessed day. Happy knitting and Spinning!

The Shepherd Knits

Hello Everyone,
I realize that it has been a while since I last posted and I'm sorry for my absence but life happens.
Anyways, I'm sure you've notice the name change. Well that is due to the fact that I have an Etsy shop now called the Shepherd Knits. I currently have some items in my shop now with more to come.
Below are the items in my shop:
Cotton Dish Clothes

I hope you will stop by and check it out.  I should have more things to add soon.

WHAT IS ON MY NEEDLES AND WHEEL

I currently have several WIPS as usual. Some may be shop things and some aren't.

First is a pair of socks I'm knitting for a customer.
I'm calling them my Lego My Eggo Socks
The yarn is a wool, nylon mixture by Patons Kroy Sock yarn 4ply. I purchased 2 skeins  50g each. The color way is called Cameo Colors.

The second project is another Phoebe Mouse Doll. Here is a picture of two that I've already finished.
They are made out of I Love This Cotton yarns.  Taupe is the brown color way. The other colors are cotton mystery skeins I had in my stash. These are a pattern from the book Phoebe's Sweater by Joanna Johnson.

Third project I have is one I am creating.  A pair of fingerless gloves. I called them Diamonds are a girl's best friend. I
plan on having a column of diamonds going the length of the glove up the middle. With a jeweled bead in the center of each one. Plus small cables on each side of the diamond column running the length of the gloves.
I've been working and writing the pattern as I go along.
Here is a picture of what I have done so far. All I have done is the cuff, which is alternating colored vertical stripping.

I also have a seed stitch cowl on the needles but I don't have any pictures of it yet.

Spinning wise I purchased some fibers from a shop on Etsy called Walnut Farm Designs. It is 4 oz. of BFL and silk roving in the Fuschia colorway. Let me tell you this stuff is super soft and squishy.  It spins so easy. It took me a minute to get the handle of the silk's slipperyness but oh it is beautiful.

Well, that is all I have for now. So I hope you enjoy your day and happy knitting.

Garden in bloom

Here are a few pictures of our garden blooms.
The first is a watermelon bloom, followed by a jalapeño bloom, a yellow squash bloom and finally a contender green bean bloom.
